Katanasaur - Though they resemble dimetrodons, these predators are actually giant lizards. Normally found on the jungle floor, they're notable for their spines. Although they're no more intelligent than one would expect from a reptile, they're capable of rearing up on their hind legs, unsheathing their spines with their handlike front feet and weilding them as swords. Their skill rivals that of even the eldest samurai, and they've even been witnessed to weild two at once! These spines cannot be resheathed and must regrow. Katanasaurs are solitary hunters, meeting up only to mate.
Snipe - An alien predator, introduced courtesy of one of countless portals, this shallow water hunter has adapted quite well. Extending inner jaws quickly lash out to snare fish from above the surface. Snipes are roughly the size of ostritches - though far more massive - and are generally harmless, despite their horrific appearence.
Megalania - More or less identical to the giant monitor lizard of old. These animals are common enough, though they tend to stick to beaches.
Fairysnake - Tiny, herbivorous reptiles, these creatures are harmless in every way, and popular pets. Fairies especially adore them. Not much else can really be said about this simple creature.
Fairynaught - Unanimously agreed to be a biocrafter's sick joke, these tiny mutant kryptonauts hunt in huge swarms, stirpping prey to the bone. Thankfully rare, they are none the less EXTREMELY annoying to be killed by, as no one wants to be remembered as the guy who was eaten by tiny fairy dinosaurs.
Archeopteryx - Nearly identical to their ancient ancestors, save one aspect: These can fly. Normally found in shades of green and blue, these avian-like dinosaurs have survived nearly unchanged for millenia, apparently. The jungle supports their lifestyle quite readily, and some residents keep them as pets.
Brontosaurus - Nearly unchanged, these creatures roam the few gaps in the jungle. Their massive size dictates that the herd lifestyle is no longer acceptable. As such, they find mates via calling. Of course, their small heads warrent a new communication mechanism: their antennae. These antennae broadcast mating calls during the appropriate season. Brontosaurs are rare, but remain one of the most popular animals on the Island, as their majesty has yet to falter.
Slayer - Cousins of the tokai and kryptonauts, these tree-climbing, brachiating theropods are known for their spectacular battles with bladekillers. Their fierce talons rip right through their prey's tough shells. Slayer's aren't actively hostile towards humans, but are easily provoked and can present a considerable threat, as their strength rivals that of a gorilla.
Bladekiller - Horse-sized relatives of the atilla bug, the bladekillers are hostile predators, hunting the slayers as often as the slayers hunt them. They're one of the greater hazards explorers may face.
Giant Crocosaur - These spinosaurids are very similar to their ancestors, roughly thirty feet from snout to tail and primarily piscevores. However, a system of tall spines, webbed with flesh offers greater support, effectively boosting the dinosaur's strength. This adaptations is neceserry, as giant crocosaurs often clash with minosaurs.
Giant Snake - A sixty to ninety foot python. What more needs to be said?
Hexaceratops - Descendants of the triceratops, these six-horned animals are notably ill-suited for a jungle lifestyle, as their freedom to charge is limited. As such, most of them live near the rockies and mountainous regions of the Island. It's also worth noting that these massive herbivores further increase their available living space by constructing massive burrows, where they live most of their lives. Lord knows how many jousting matches go on beneath Islander feet, unknown to all but the dinosaurs themselves.
Krengwa - One of the few mammals inhabiting the Island. These creatures are essentially jaguars, though they more resemble hyenas. Though they inspire caution, they're hardly the most feared predators on this land of dinosaurs and giant insects.
Sapper - One of the most boring animals on the Island. This useless arthropod spends its entire life wandering between trees and feasting on the sap. It's not even known how they reproduce, as no one has ever volunteered to sit still long enough to wait for one to get the job done.
Tree Squid - Alien predators, these squidlike animals live perpetually in the trees, relying on elastic tendrils to snare prey and stuff it into its elsatic stomach. Elastic antennae work in unison with eyes which never move, but are probably elastic as well. Though the animal is only about four feet long at the torso, its stomach allows it to prey on humans with ill-desired frequency.
Platosaur(NOT the final name) - Descended from sauropods, these animals are the size of Island kangaroos, and spend most of their time propped against trees for high grazing. Their tough armor discourages predators, so the creatures have little need for offensive weaponry. When predators do display the gall to attack, however, spine-plated tails quickly extinguish such courage.

This newsletter was "born" back in March 2007, from a conversation between ~Lareth and =FrozenStarRo, who with the help of their friends *Iardacil and =Sylwiaa , wanted to make something to promote known and unknown photomanipulators alike here on DeviantArt. As of September 2009 =ImaginaryRosse joined the project and will be helping us out with the weekly choices. While things have changed over time, the essence of the newsletter is still the same. As of recent, the talented =Behana has joined us in bringing you this weekly newsletter and we are excited to have her on board. This is a special feature, with a selection of 50 manips from the past year that we loved.

I especially loved the Krengwa
I asked Lephia about the Fairynaught but she just swore and kicked my screen.
